5 Questions to Plan an Optimal Life in 2011

Already it’s November and thoughts are turning to next year. I’ve been reviewing how I did on my 2010 goals this week. There have been hits and misses this year, but overall more hits (yay!) I attribute that, in large part, to my recently acquired habit of setting annual and quarterly goals for my business and for my life.

Since this is the traditional time to take stock and start planning for next year, I offer these 5 questions for planning your optimal 2011.

1. If you were living full-out, what would you really want?

The question of the ages. So many things that you want to do with your life and so little time to get just the routine things done! If you don’t know what you want, you’ll waste many months or years wandering around in your life. Explore your goals and then make small conscious choices to move toward them.

2. Are you comfortable with what you’re doing?

How you do one thing tells how you do everything…somebody said that. So take a look at your life and determine if your daily choices are in line with your values and where you want to be in life. If they aren’t, start moving into alignment with your values.

3. What motivates you?
What truly moves you into action? It’s an answer you have to find for yourself. There are so many things that can inspire you, but the most fulfilling is when you find your life purpose and live it. So set out to discover your purpose if you don’t know it yet. And if you know your purpose, set your goal and get inspired. This is your life that you are living!

4. What are you willing to give up to get what you want?

Your goal won’t magically be achieved just by naming it. You have to take some action and that often means letting go of something. What is it that you need to give up in order to move more fully into your optimal life?

5. What are you afraid of?

This one is often the key to making great strides in your life and your business. What is it that you are afraid to do (or not do)? Our fears, real or imagined, are the biggest obstacle to success. Don’t allow False Evidence Appearing Real (FEAR) stop you from living an optimal life.
